Media Invitation: Ford Amphitheatre - Dance Series Preview - Sat. 4/24

 

 

 

Hello!

 

Selected dance companies from the Ford Amphitheatre’s 2010 Summer Season will be videotaping on Sat., April. 24, segments of works to be performed at the Ford later this season. Location is The Brewery Art Colony, just outside Downtown Los Angeles, from 9:30 am - 2 pm.

  

You are invited to attend to videotape, photograph, observe and interview members of the dance companies who will be there that day. They represent a variety of dance in Los Angeles.

 

DETAILS BELOW

The strength and scope of dance in Los Angeles will be center stage at the Ford Amphitheatre 2010 Summer Season. The 17-event dance series runs on selected dates June 18 to Oct. 9.

 

Performances include:

§       Modern Dance - Premieres of “Gods and Marionettes” based on the Greek tragedy Elektra by L.A. Contemporary Dance Company (6/18) and of “Fracture” by IN/EX Dance Project, Invertigo Dance Theatre and Method Contemporary Dance.

§       Fusion – Born Dance Company (Korean & Western, 7/30); Kultura Philippine Folk Arts (Filipino & Western); Dream Dance Contemporary Arts (Chinese & Western, 9/3)

§       Aerial/Acrobatic/Circus  – Catch Me Bird (8/13), Troupe Vertigo (9/10), Luminario Ballet (8/6)

§       Hip Hop – Culture Shock Los Angeles Dance Troupe (8/20), Third Annual J.U.i.C.E. Hip Hop Dance Festival (10/2)

§       Flamenco – Maria Bermudez’ Sonidos Gitanos (July 23 & 24)

§       Afro-Brazilian – Viver Brasil (July 31)

§       Polynesian – Nonosina Polynesia (August 15, part of AlohaFest, Songs & Dances from Paradise)

§       Martial Arts – Mantra Siam Performing Arts (Thai martial arts and dance, August 29)

§       Hawaiian – Hula Halau Keali’I O Nalani (October 8, part of AlohaFest! Rhythm of the Islands)

§       Israeli – Keshet Chaim (October 9)

 

On April 24, at the Brockus Project Studios in the Brewery, dancers from some of these companies will be videotaped for the Ford’s Artist Exposé series, which will consist of 30 to 60-second features of a rehearsal and artist interviews. The segments will posted online as part of the Ford’s social media marketing campaign.
