                        Terry Clark, Deputy Director;

                        Reaver Bingham, Bureau Chief for Adult Field Services

WHAT:     Will host the Grand Opening of the Day Reporting Center (DRC). The essence of the Day Reporting Center (DRC) is to provide easier access to services for those currently on probation in Los Angeles County.  The DRC will serve as a vehicle for implementing specialized and intensive services to high risk adult population.  The DRC is an arm of the Probation Department’s Adult Field Services Bureau.

The Los Angeles County Probation Department is committed to the concept of community-based probation.  Since our clients are either in the community or will soon return to communities in which they live, the community itself and its leaders are key partners in the process of rehabilitation.  To this end, the Probation Department has taken steps to bring probation services to the community by establishing the Day Reporting Center.

Reporting centers can increase effectiveness of programs by co-locating staffing from several disciplines that are required to deal with the various rehabilitative needs of high risk offenders.

The DRC concept promotes collaboration, communication, and a true interdisciplinary approach by removing bureaucratic barriers that can be raised when service delivery is strictly organized by agency.

Ceremony attendees will include Los Angeles County 2nd District Supervisor Yvonne Burke; Los Angeles County 5th District Supervisor Michael Antonovich; and representatives from the County CEO Office, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Superior Court, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and Child Support Services.
