PRESS RELEASE
DCFS and Community Partners Reach Out to the LGBT Community to Support
Adoption of L.A. County Foster Youth at Free Gay Men's Chorus
Performance on Sunday, October 19th
In an effort to promote permanency and the adoption of Los Angeles County foster youth, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in partnership with Southern California Foster Family and Adoption Agency and the Heart Gallery Los Angeles are reaching out to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community through a free performance of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Metropolitan Community Church Los Angeles located at 4953 Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles.
There are over 500 children in Los Angeles County who need permanent, loving homes. Many of them are older youth or belong to large sibling groups. The Heart Gallery Los Angeles program showcases many waiting children with professional photographs and brief biographies. Many of their beautiful photographs will be displayed at the concert. This event is one of numerous adoption events each year designed to reach out to various communities in Los Angeles County and urge residents to consider fostering or adopting a youth in need of a permanent home.
Adoption information will be presented and refreshments will be served. There are 185 seats available. To RSVP for reservations, please call Southern California Foster Family and Adoption Agency at (213) 356-2900.
