The Chihuahua breed originates from Mexico and is the world’s smallest breed of dog. Chihuahuas are prized for their devotion, ferocity, and personality – they are known as large dogs in tiny packages. Chihuahuas are generally very affectionate to their owners and are excellent watchdogs. They are very adaptable to a variety of environments and are a very popular choice for the smaller living spaces of apartments. Chihuahuas are best suited for households with adults or school-aged children or older.
“Please support your local animal shelter rather than purchasing a dog from a pet store and contributing to the overpopulation problem”, pleaded Los Angeles County Deputy Director Michelle Roache. “We have great dogs here in our shelters that desperately need homes”. If you are interested in adopting a Chihuahua or other pet, please visit one of our adoption centers. Check our website for a complete listing of available dogs: http://animalcare.lacounty.gov.
