THE TASKFORCE FOR REGIONAL AUTOTHEFT PREVENTION TO BE

HIGHLIGHTED ON “TruTV” BAIT CAR SHOW

Sheriff Leroy D. Baca, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Mark Wolper and Earth Angel Productions, Inc., invites you to watch the latest episode of the “Bait Car” on “TruTV.” These new episodes will highlight members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Detective Division’s Taskforce for Regional Autotheft Prevention (TRAP) as they deploy their bait cars throughout the County of Los Angeles in an effort to prevent auto theft.

TRAP is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional bureau of the Sheriff’s Department

responsible for the investigation, prosecution and deterrence of vehicle theft-related crimes throughout Los Angeles County. The task force is comprised of members from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, California Highway Patrol and members of the Los Angeles County Police Chief’s Association. TRAP is funded by a $1 county assessed fee for every vehicle registered in the Countyof Los Angeles.

Since its inception, TRAP investigators have recovered more than

21,000 stolen vehicles at an estimated value of $370 million.

Please join us as TRAP spreads the word that stealing cars is not a victimless crime, and the next car stolen may just be a bait car belonging to TRAP.
