Yaroslavsky statement on Kennedy's death

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky

Statement on the Passing of Senator Edward M. Kennedy:

"I am deeply saddened by Senator Kennedy's passing.  I have known Ted Kennedy since the inception of my public service career in the mid-1970's.  I supported his presidential campaign in 1980 and worked with him over the years on public policy issues that affected the city and county of Los Angeles.

"Even though he represented Massachusetts in the United States Senate, Los Angeles County could not have had a better partner and friend in the promotion of policies that improved the quality of life of the most vulnerable among us---the sick, the disabled, the undereducated and the poor.  All who find themselves on the margins of our society have lost their most effective and eloquent champion."
