$400,000 proposal would fund kitchen/dining room renovation project at facility in Long Beach to provide meals for homeless veterans.  (Item 1-D)

 

Proposal calls for spending $1.8 million to construct 10-unit Salvation Army transitional housing project in Santa Fe Springs.  (Item 2-D)

 

$1.1 million proposal would fund programs to help the most vulnerable chronically homeless individuals in Santa Monica move into permanent housing.  (Item 4-D)

 

Board asked to approve the issuance of $8 million in revenue bonds to finance the site acquisition/construction of 62-unit senior rental housing development in West Athens/Westmont area.  (Item 1-H, 24)

 

$427,896 proposal would fund construction of community center and various outdoor amenities at Robert Ovrom Park in Burbank.  (Item 3-P)

 

Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich and Yvonne B. Burke recommend extending and increasing the reward from $10,000 to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the death of 90-year-old Evelyn Mosely at her home in Altadena on May 8. (Item 2)

 

Recommendation calls for waiving fines for overdue library books and materials, and reducing by half previous fine balances if paid in full during Aug. 11-17.  (Item 4)

 

Board asked to review Regional Planning Commission’s decision to allow the construction/operation of wireless telecommunication facility in View Park-Windsor Hills area, and set Sept. 23 for public hearing.  (Item 5)

 

Reestablishment of $10,000 reward proposed for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the shooting death of Armando Joseph Mariscal, Jr., while in a car near Marina del Rey in October 2007.   (Item 6)

 

Supervisor Don Knabe, citing court ruling, requests Board set aside its May 2007 approval of the Shores Project in Marina del Rey, which involved the removal of almost 26,000 cubic yards of soil from the site, direct Regional Planning Department staff to prepare additional environmental impact analysis and set date for public hearing.   (Item 10)

 

Board asked to ratify agreement that would give USC a representative on the Coliseum Commission.   (Item 11)

 

Extension of $10,000 reward proposed for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the shooting death of 11-year-old Jose Luis Garcia Bailey in Long Beach in March.   (Item 12)

 

$350,000 proposal would fund additional construction of lobby and 17 rooms as part of the MacLaren Hall Satellite Medical Hub Refurbishment Project to accommodate foster children with health and mental health needs, upping total budget to $600,000.   (Item 15)

 

Agreement would establish labor-management committee to ensure manageable workloads for  children’s social workers.  (Item 18)

 

$2.4 million proposal would fund renovation of the San Pedro Community and Senior Services Center, and award $220,000 contract to allow design work to begin.   (Item 28)

 

Acceptance of $160,000 grant would fund program to clean up tires illegally dumped throughout the County and collection events where residents may drop off old tires to be recycled free. (Item 30)

 

Supervisors asked to declare there would be no significant environmental impact caused by the proposed demolition plans as part of the $19.1 million Alondra Park pool/water/play/skate park project in Lawndale.  (Item 31)

 

$5.7 million proposal would fund design and construction of Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center upgrade project in Los Angeles.   (Item 32)

 

Employment preparation services would be provided to youth at Camps Paige and Afflerbaugh as part of anti-gang initiative.  (Item 37)

 

City of Palmdale offers to provide $235,943 mobile command unit for Palmdale Sheriff’s Station use in law enforcement and emergencies.  (Item 38)

 

Recommendation calls for $420,000 settlement in lawsuit alleging that an employee of the Department of Public Health was subjected to disability discrimination, and that the department failed to accommodate the employee’s disability.   (Item 40, cont. from 7/1) 

 

Board asked to permanently debar the firm of Arrowhead Emancipation Program, Inc. from performing work on any County contract due to serious contract violations/unethical practices, including false claims and self-dealing real estate transactions.   (Item 41)
