State Official to Award $25 Million to Southland Water Projects -- Wednesday event

WHAT:           State Official to Award $25 Million to Southland Water Projects*

Lester Snow, director of the State Department of Water Resources, will present a $25 million mock-check to County of Los Angeles Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke and local officials from water supply and water treatment agencies, municipalities, and non-governmental organizations throughout the Greater Los Angeles County region.

The $25 million will help fund 14 water-related projects dispersed throughout Los Angeles County. State and local officials will also address the multi-agency plan designed to help satiate the region’s thirst for vital water resources.

o       Morris Dam Water Supply Enhancement Project (Azusa)

o       Whittier Narrows Water Reclamation Plant (El Monte)

o       Large Landscape Water Conservation, Runoff Reduction and Educational Program  (Central Basin Municipal Water District service area)

o       Southeast Water Reliability Project (Central Basin Municipal Water District service area)

o       Large Landscape Water Conservation, Runoff Reduction and Educational Program  (West Basin Municipal Water District service area)

o       Pacoima Wash Greenway/8th Street Park (San Fernando)

o       Las Virgenes Creek Restoration Project (Calabasas)

o       Malibu Creek Watershed Water Conservation Project (Westlake Village)

o       Joint Water Pollution Control Plan Marshland Enhancement Project (Carson)

o       North Atwater Creek Restoration and Water Quality Enhancement Project (North Atwater)

o       Invasive Weed Control Project at the Whittier Narrows (three river locations in the San Gabriel River)

o       South Los Angeles Wetlands Project (South Los Angeles)

o       Solstice Creek Restoration Project (Malibu)

o       Wilmington Drain Restoration Multiuse Project (Wilmington)
