AIR QUALITY ALERT: Valley Communities Affected by Poor Air
Air quality is unhealthy for all individuals in the Santa Clarita Valley
and East San Gabriel Valley
Air quality is unhealthy for sensitive individuals in the West and East San Fernando Valley, the West San Gabriel Valley and the Pomona/Walnut Valley
LOS ANGELES – According to the South Coast Air Quality Management District, today’s air quality in the Santa Clarita Valley and the East San Gabriel Valley will be unhealthy for all individuals. In the West and East San Fernando Valley, the West San Gabriel Valley, and the Pomona/Walnut Valley, the air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive individuals.
Los Angeles County Health Officer and Public Health Director, Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, MPH, advises people in the Santa Clarita Valley and the East San Gabriel Valley to cancel outdoor physical activities, such as running, soccer, tennis, football, or outdoor swimming. Schools that are in session today in the East San Gabriel Valley and Santa Clarita Valley should cancel outside physical activities, including PE and after school sports.
In the West and East San Fernando Valley, the West San Gabriel Valley and the Pomona/Walnut Valley, sensitive individuals who have heart disease, asthma or other chronic respiratory diseases should minimize outside physical activities and should remain indoors as much as possible. Schools that are in session today in these areas that have children with sensitive conditions, including heart disease, asthma, other chronic respiratory diseases, should not participate in PE and after school sports, and should stay indoors as much as possible.
