FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES COUNTY REGISTRAR-RECORDER/COUNTY CLERK

TO OPEN SATURDAY, JUNE 21, 2008 FOR MARRIAGE SERVICES

Acting Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean Logan reminded county residents today that the RR/CC Headquarters in Norwalk will be open on Saturday, June 21 from 8 AM through 5 PM for marriage licensing services.  Couples can apply for licenses and arrange for civil marriage ceremonies.  Ceremonies will be performed on site by Deputy Civil Marriage Commissioners.

Appointments are not necessary to obtain a license.  Couples are encouraged to complete the application for a marriage license online at www.lamarriage.lacounty.gov <http://www.lamarriage.lacounty.gov>.  "While not required," Logan said, "completing the on-line application will expedite the licensing process when the couples appear in person to pick up their licenses at our offices."

Ceremonies will be offered in Norwalk on a first come, first served basis during the June 21 event.  On all other dates, ceremonies will be offered by appointment, which can be made at the time the marriage license is been issued.  The marriage license fee is $70 and civil marriage ceremonies are available for $25.

To accommodate couples seeking licenses and ceremonies, the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk has expanded service at the department's Norwalk headquarters during the month of June.  Norwalk is open extended hours on weekdays through June 27 from 8 AM through 5 PM issuing licenses and will remain open through 8 PM to perform civil marriage ceremonies as needed to meet demand.  District offices maintain their regular business hours, but ceremonies are available daily through June 27 at all locations by pre-scheduled appointment.

Additionally, the RR/CC announced a preliminary report of 828 marriage licenses issued since June 17, 2008 from Los Angeles County RR/CC District office locations as of 5:00 p.m. June 18, 2008.

Preliminary reports breakdown the number of marriage licenses issued and civil marriage ceremonies performed for each RR/CC District office and the West Hollywood location as shown below:
