Free Marina del Rey Summer Beach Shuttle Provides Weekend Service

Marina Del Rey, CA – County of Los Angeles Supervisor Don Knabe announces that the free summer weekend beach shuttle service for Marina del Rey and neighboring communities is now operating, providing service to Playa Vista, Marina del Rey and the Venice Beach Pier.

The weekend service begins each Friday with service on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This season two clean-fuel shuttles will circulate hourly.

The Summer Shuttle program is a hassle free and relaxing form of community transportation, Supervisor Knabe stated.

Beginning on June 27 and continuing through September 1, the Beach Shuttle service will connect with the Marina del Rey WaterBus.  The WaterBus provides weekend boat transportation to seven boarding locations throughout the Marina. Both the Beach Shuttle and WaterBus permit bicycles for passengers seeking an alternative way to travel the beach area.

Whether you want to use the services to attend the Marina del Rey Summer Concert Series or travel to Venice Beach to enjoy the restaurants and shops, the Shuttle and WaterBus can get you there at a fraction of the cost of using gas in your car, Knabe added.

There is no charge to passengers for the summer shuttle service. The WaterBus fare is $1.00 per person one-way, or $30 dollars for a season pass.  Parking is available at Los Angeles County lots located throughout Marina del Rey for a minimal fee.

For more information on either the free Summer Beach Shuttle or the WaterBus, please contact the Marina del Rey Visitors Center at (310) 305-9545 or go to: http://beaches.lacounty.gov/bandh/Marina/Main.htm.
