JUNE 17, 2008 MARRIAGE LICENSE PRELIMINARY STATISTICS

Acting Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean Logan provided a preliminary report of 648 marriage licenses issued in Los Angeles County as of 5:00 p.m. on June 17, 2008.   

The preliminary breakdown of the number of marriage licenses issued and civil marriage ceremonies performed at the RR/CC Headquarters in Norwalk and at each RR/CC District office (including the City of West Hollywood) is shown below:

Prior to the implementation of same-sex marriage licensing, the average number of licenses issued per day during the month of June was 194.  

The RR/CC began offering marriage license applications online to same-sex couples at 5:01 PM on June 16. Beginning at 8 AM on Tuesday, June 17, the RR/CC started issuing marriage licenses and offering civil marriage ceremonies in accordance with the California Supreme Court ruling reversing the ban on same sex marriage.
