EIR released on Baldwin Hills oil field community standards district

Public Release of Draft Environmental Impact Report and Community

                     Standards District For Baldwin Hills Oil Field

Two Public Workshops to be Held for Baldwin Hills Community Standards District and Environmental Impact Report

 

The draft environmental impact report (DEIR) for the Baldwin Hills Oil Field Community Standards District (CSD) is now available for public review and comment.  The proposed CSD sets permanent development standards, operating requirements, and procedures for oil field operations in the unincorporated areas of the oil field.  The DEIR provides information on current and future oil field operations, analyzes the proposed CSD's adequacy in addressing the potential environmental impacts of oil field operations, and proposes mitigation measures for identified impacts.

Two public workshops will be held in July to provide information and receive public feedback on the CSD and DEIR.  The County of Los Angeles and the environmental consultant, Marine Research Specialists, will conduct the workshops on Thursday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 22.  The workshop content will be identical to allow interested persons to attend on the date that is most convenient. 

 

The workshops will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the following locations:

 

§      July 17, Veterans Memorial Complex, 4117 Overland Ave., Culver City

§      July 22, Knox Presbyterian Church, 5840 La Tijera Blvd., Los Angeles.

 

The first Regional Planning Commission hearing to consider the CSD and the EIR will be held on Aug. 2 at West Los Angeles College, Room FA 100, 9000 Overland Ave. in Culver City.  A second hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27 at the Regional Planning Commission hearing room at 320 W. Temple St.  in Los Angeles.

 

In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act CEQA, the County has released a notice of availability for the DEIR.  Per the CEQA Guidelines Section 15105(a), the DEIR is available for public review and comment for 60 days.  The public review period ends on Aug. 19.
