LOS ANGELES – Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas arrived today in Washington D.C. where he and Board colleagues will spend the week meeting with administration officials and members of California’s congressional delegation to seek critically-needed dollars for Los Angeles County.

The Supervisors were excused from today’s regular Board meeting in order to schedule Wednesday and Thursday discussions with Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, Sen. Barbara Boxer, and Reps. Lucille Roybal-Allard, Maxine Waters, Henry Waxman, Xavier Becerra and Jane Harman.
The five Supervisors will introduce a wide range of issues, including the reopening of a new Martin Luther King, Jr. Hospital, health care legislation and climate change.
Supervisor Ridley-Thomas also plans to focus on issues relating to economic development in the Second District, including access to federal stimulus funds, job creation and job training programs.
