SCHOOL TERRORISM AWARENESS AND RESPONSE EXERCISE

(S.T.A.R.) 2009

 

 

 WHO:                         SHERIFF LEE BACA, CHIEF WILLIAM MCSWEENEY AND COMMANDER MICHAEL GROSSMAN, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF=S DEPARTMENT; MAYOR PRO TEM BOB ARCHULETA, CITY OF PICO RIVERA; REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (F.B.I.); REPRESENTATIVES FROM INFRAGARD MEMBER ALLIANCE; REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE CENTER OF ASYMMETRIC WARFARE (C.A.W.); AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS.

 

WHAT:            SHERIFF BACA AND OTHER HIGH-RANKING FEDERAL AND LOCAL OFFICIALS WILL DISCUSS THE SCHOOL TERRORISM AWARENESS AND RESPONSE EXERCISE.  THIS MULTI-AGENCY TRAINING EXERCISE SIMULATES A TERRORIST ATTACK ON AN AREA SCHOOL.  THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF=S DEPARTMENT SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT BUREAU AND AERO BUREAU WILL DEMONSTRATE  AN OFFICER DOWN RESCUE WITH SIMULATED WEAPONS FIRE FOR THE MEDIA.
