Scroll presented to Assessor Rick Auerbach, who retires March 31, in recognition of his 40 years of service.

 

Board asked to approve the Housing Authority’s Annual Plan for FY 2010-11.  (Item 1-H) APPROVED

 

Proposal would increase fee from $270 to $645 to cover actual costs for obtaining names/addresses and mailing notifications to property owners impacted by the public auction of tax defaulted properties, and raise the title search fee from $60 to $95.  (Item 3) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich requests report back in two weeks describing the screening/hiring process relating to the teacher who was arrested for alleging orchestrating fights in the classroom while assigned to Camp Holton.  (Item 8) APPROVED

 

Extension of $10,000 reward proposed for information leading to arrest and/or conviction of person(s) responsible for the hit and run death of Joo Lee in Glendale on Jan.1, 2010  (Item 9) APPROVED

 

$3 million proposal would fund phased implementation of the Los Angeles County Regional Gang Violence Reduction Initiative in Pacoima, Florence/Firestone, Monrovia/Duarte and the Harbor/Gateway areas, in effort to address gang violence and improve service delivery. Report scheduled on plan to address/consolidate motions by Supervisors Mark Ridley-Thomas, 

Zev Yaroslavsky and Michael D. Antonovich concerning the quality/timeliness of the Probation Department’s internal affairs and child abuse investigations   (Item 17, cont. from 3/16) APPROVED WITH THREE AMENDMENTS: RIDLEY-THOMAS MOTION TO CONDUCT REVIEW OF PROTOCOLS NECESSARY TO PREVENT INCIDENTS OF ABUSE BETWEEN PROBATION PERSONNEL AND MINORS,  MOLINA MOTION FOR FISCAL REVIEW TO DETERMINE STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS AND FUNDS NEEDED FOR 2010-11 PROBATION BUDGET, YAROSLAVSKY/ANTONOVICH MOTION FOR WRITTEN RECOMMENDATIONS FROM ACTING PROBATION CHIEF REGARDING MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE DEPARTMENT

Report scheduled on funding options for the Arts Commission internship program, including the feasibility of providing a loan to finance the program.  (Item 19, cont. from 3/2 and 3/16) APPROVED MOTION BY RIDLEY-THOMAS TO PROVIDE $250,000 FROM PROVISIONAL FINANCE UNIT FUNDS FOR THE PROGRAM, 3-1-1, WITH MOLINA OPPOSED AND KNABE ABSTAINING

 

Development of plan requested to eliminate redundancy within the auditing/monitoring of state-licensed, County-contracted foster care facilities, and to require child welfare investigative expertise when analyzing a facility’s appropriateness when a foster care provider is alleged to have endangered a County-supervised child.  (Item 20-B) APPROVED

 

Board asked to oppose proposed rate increase by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.  (Motion introduced at meeting.)  APPROVED

 

Supervisors meet in closed session to discuss lawsuit arising out of claims of discrimination and retaliation by the union representing deputy district attorneys and one unnamed deputy district attorney in the District Attorney’s Office. (Item CS-1)  

 

Supervisors meet in closed session to discuss candidate for the position of director of personnel.  (Item CS-4)
