ANTONOVICH CALLS EARLY RELEASE A MOCKERY                   

 

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – “Early release is a mockery of the criminal justice system,” said Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich on the Sheriff’s release of over 200 criminals from the County jail system this week.  “Criminals are sent to jail to serve time for a crime.  It’s not a merry-go-round ride back to the streets.” 

 

On the Sheriff’s Department’s contention that only the least violent would be released, Antonovich asked, “Is that before or after the plea bargain? Many of the supposedly low-risk inmates have pleaded down from more serious offenses.”
