March 9 Agenda Highlights

Los Altos High School girls volleyball team honored for winning the 2009 CIF-Southern Section title.

 

$514,730 proposal would fund completion of ongoing sound insulation work on properties in Lennox/Athens communities.  (Item 1-D)

 

$1.5 million plan would develop rest area and landscaping adjacent to existing Los Angeles River trail as part of the South Gate Riparian Restoration Project. (Item 1-P)

 

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich requests extension of two rewards:

·         $20,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the murder of Jean Clinton Roeschlaub in Glendale in 2006.  (Item 4)

·         $10,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the murder of Jerrill Dulaney in Altadena in 2009  (Item 5)

 

Approval sought to suspend efforts to transition the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center to a private operator, based on operational changes designed to cut costs.  (Item 9)

 

Board considers appeal of Regional Planning Commission’s approval of plan to build wireless telecommunication facility on Edison tower in Hacienda Heights.  (Item 10)

 

Board considers appeal of Regional Planning Commission’s denial of continued operation of motel in East Pasadena that neighbors had complained contributed to prostitution in area, and housed sex offenders and parolees. (Item 11)

 

Approval sought to implement cash management system at Department of Community and Senior Services, expediting the issuance of payments to contractors and replace the existing system requiring contractors to front program costs pending reimbursement.  (Item 12)

 

Three-year $21.1 million contract would provide vocational assessment management and learning disability evaluation/diagnosis services to welfare recipients to help them achieve self-sufficiency.  (Item 15)

 

$155,000 proposal would fund community survey of residents living in vicinity of the Los Angeles County oil field in Baldwin Hills regarding quality of life issues.  (Item 20)

 

$7.5 million proposal would fund construction of new library in East Compton, and award contract for architectural/engineering design services. (Item 25)

 

Report scheduled on funding options for the Arts Commission internship program, including using the 1% public art fee as a funding source. (Item 43)

 

Supervisors meet in closed session to discuss lawsuit challenging the adequacy of the educational services provided at the Challenger Memorial Youth Center.   (Item CS-1)  

 

Supervisors meet in closed session to discuss lawsuit arising out of claims of retaliation by  Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Patrick Gomez. (Item CS-2)

 

Supervisors meet in closed session to discuss medical negligence/wrongful death lawsuit arising from treatment received by a patient while hospitalized at the Olive View Medical Center.  (Item CS-3)
