The 82 Annual Academy Awards

Will the gold statue for Best Picture go to the gritty reality-based bomb disarming unit in The Heart Locker or to the most successful 3-D fantasy film of all time?  Will the Academy take us Up, Up and away in a beautiful balloon or just Up in the Air? We need An Education and Patt gives us one.  She’ll talk us through the Oscar nominated films, the controversy surrounding a certain inappropriate email and she’ll help us understand how these films get nominated and more importantly, how they win.  Think the planning involved in your Oscar party is a nightmare? Wait till you hear the details about planning THE party.  Patt talks to the two men (some call them the odd couple) responsible for producing Oscar’s big night.  One of them danced in spandex at the Oscars twenty years ago—you’ve come a long way Adam!

Comedy Congress from the Ice House!

The comedic material emanating from Washington D.C., and state capitols across the country, is enough to make any sitcom writer jealous, even if most of that comedy is unintentional.  Our motto on Comedy Congress is that just when politics makes you want to cry, it’s usually best to laugh.  Today we laugh at the shrill hysteria of the healthcare reform debate, Toyota & Blue Cross, the companies you love to hate, Obama’s fight with Las Vegas and much more.  Tomorrow we’ll probably cry about our lost jobs, but today join us in laughing at the madness of it all—the truth hurts far less when it’s told by comedians.

Guests:

Greg Proops, host of the new science game show “Head Games” on the Science Channel and a regular performer on both the American & British-original version of “Whose Line is it Anyway?”; he plays a recurring character on the HBO series “Flight of the Concords”; and he is a regularly touring stand up comedian, coming to a comedy club near you!
