	Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board Chair Ara Najarian & LA County Supervisor Michael Antonovich Will Present Measure R Funds to Palmdale City Council
	WHAT:	Ara Najarian, Glendale City Council member and Chair of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors, will join Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich in presenting the first installment of Measure R sales tax money to the Palmdale City Council for use in improving transportation systems in the City of Palmdale. Measure R, a new half-cent sales tax approved by the voters in November 2008 is expected to generate approximately $40 billion over the next 30 years. As part of the measure, local cities within LA County receive 15% of the funding to use for major street resurfacing, pothole repair, improving traffic congestion, bikeways, pedestrian improvements signal synchronization and transit improvements. The Measure R payment to the City of Palmdale totals $531,008 collected through February, 2010.
