Angeles National Forest Roads Reopening

Please release the attached advisory from CARE

SECTIONS OF ANGELES FOREST ROADS TO REOPEN TO RESTRICTED TRAFFIC

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has announced the re-opening of some sections of the Angeles Forest Highway and other connecting forest roads in wake of the recent storms that hit the area.

As of Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 5 p.m., the roads will reopen as a construction zone with access limited to residents, contractors, and emergency vehicles only.  This restriction is necessary to allow Public Works crews and vehicles to continue to clear plugged roadway culverts, inlets and roadway shoulders of mud and debris, and make necessary repairs to some of the roads.

The roads that will reopen are: Big Tujunga Canyon Road from the City of LA/County boundary to Vogel Flats Road, Vogel Flats Road, and Stonyvale Road.

For updates on the forest road closures, motorists can visit the Coordinated Agency Recovery Effort (CARE) website at www.dpwcare.org.

Please note; the remainder of Big Tujunga Canyon Road, all of Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway, and all of Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road are closed till further notice.

Angeles Crest Highway (SR2) remains closed.

For updates on Angeles Crest Highway (SR2), call Caltrans Public and Media Affairs at (213) 897-3656, or visit www.dot.ca.gov/dist07.
