Quilting Bee to Benefit Abused Children & Kids with Serious Illnesses 

 

EAST LOS ANGELES (February 25, 2010)—Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Gloria Molina is inviting the community to a “Quilt Comadrazo” this Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the YWCA/Union Pacific Child Care Center.  Admission is free.  RSVP at (213) 974-4111 or at District1RSVP@bos.lacounty.gov.

BACKGROUND:  Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Gloria Molina and members of Las Pulgas quilting group will host a “Quilt Comadrazo” in partnership with Downey’s “Quilts for Kids” and Las Comadres Para Las Americas.  Las Pulgas will have quilt kits available to help participants make and finish their quilt.  Participants should bring a sewing machine, scissors, and threads—and those supplying their own fabric should bring at least one yard of children’s focus fabric and half a yard of complimentary colors.  Quilts will be donated to abused children and kids with serious, life-threatening illnesses through Downey’s “Quilts for Kids” program in conjunction with Las Comadres Para Las Americas.
