ANTONOVICH: FULL DISCLOSURE OF PAST & PRESENT PROBATION DEPARTMENT OFFENDERS REQUIRED
LOS ANGELES COUNTY – “In addition to vigorous oversight and monitoring for the Probation Department’s Internal Affairs Operation, we must have accountability, discipline and criminal or civil prosecution for those past and current employees who defrauded County taxpayers or acted negligently,” said Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich who will introduce a motion calling for a full investigation and appropriate discipline for offenders. “Additionally, investigators and supervisors who dropped the ball and failed to investigate 31 probation employees accused of misconduct must also be accountable. Investigations must be conducted and discipline imposed in a timely fashion.”
“The clear message is that fraud, theft, abuse of county resources, negligence, ignoring or covering up malfeasance or failure to properly supervise staff will not be tolerated, period,” he added. “Dealing with the County’s most at-risk population, the Probation Department is an integral part of the criminal justice system and its staff must be held to the highest standards.”
