PRELIMINARY OUTSTANDING BALLOTS REPORT

Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean Logan reported an initial estimate of outstanding ballots to be processed during the election canvass period.  The RR/CC estimates that 149,174 ballots remain to be processed, after the semi-final Election night tally.  The initial estimate includes outstanding Vote by Mail ballots and Provisional ballots.  Outstanding Vote by Mail ballots will be processed, qualified, and tallied during the Canvass period.   .

“Election night is, in some ways, just the beginning of the election process for the Registrar-Recorder.” said Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan. The 28 day Election Canvass is the full accounting and counting of ballots cast and the period required by law to certify the results of the election and declare the officials winners.  “The Official Election Canvass ensures that the vote of every registered voter whether cast by regular ballot, provisional ballot, or by mail is properly counted.”

Logan pointed out that on election night a total of 852,153 ballots were counted.  This included 239,769 Vote by Mail ballots and 612,384 precinct ballots cast at 4,883 voting precincts throughout the county.

Election results will be updated on a regular basis throughout the 28 day period.  For a full schedule of election updates visit www.lavote.net.
