LOS ANGELES  - Found Animals Foundation (www.foundanimals.org) has announced its 2^nd annual “Better With A Buddy” promotion and kickoff adoption event. This year’s program will be held simultaneously at 14 City and County animal care center locations, on Saturday, June 19, 2010.  The unprecedented promotion highlights adoption of all shelter animals in pairs and the kickoff event offers ½ off all adoption fees, On This Day Only!  Furthermore, when you bring home a “Buddy” (2^nd animal on this same day) for your newly adopted family member, Found Animals will cover the 2^nd adoption fee!

 

If that’s just not enough, throughout June, July and August when “kitten season” is at its peak, Found Animals is offering another incredible promotion for anyone interested in adopting a cat.  Any new cat adopter may choose to bring home a second cat as a buddy for their new family member, and Found Animals will cover adoption fees for the companion cat. The 2009 promotion was a tremendous success, resulting in 195 cats adopted as companions, or “buddies,” from three participating Los Angeles locations. With 14 animal care centers involved this year, this life saving promotion promises to find homes for hundreds of beautiful cats.

 

The companion adoption event and promotion brings attention to the millions of animals available for adoption from municipal shelters each year. Due to tremendous public misconception that these animals are undesirable (approximately only 50% make it out alive), coupled with minimal awareness in regard to shelter locations, these facilities are consistently overcrowded and underfunded. As a result, many centers are forced to put down animals simply for the lack of space. Through innovative and successful promotions such as the Found Animals “Better With A Buddy” program, the public will become more aware of these issues, animal adoptions increase, and entire communities benefit.

 

“Our ‘Better With A Buddy’ event was a great success last year,” noted Aimee Gilbreath, Executive Director of Found Animals. “Now that we have expanded the promotion to 14 animal care centers and have applied our “take two Buddy discount” to all shelter animals for this one day event, we are very excited about the potential turnout. Not only can we help hundreds of great animals find new homes on this single event day, but Found Animals will continue to cover the costs for any new cat adopter who adopts a 2^nd cat at the same time throughout June, July and August.  The number of lives we can save over the course of the entire promotion is enormous. This is a win-win situation for everyone involved,” she added.
