$1 million proposal would allow Community Development Commission and Housing Authority to construct a headquarters in Alhambra to consolidate its three offices, with opening projected for June 2012.   (Item 1-D, cont. from 8/31)

 

Housing Authority proposes to pay $75,000 settlement to family who claimed their mother would not have been struck and killed by a car as she crossed a street if her request for reasonable parking had been accommodated. (Item 1-H) APPROVED

 

Supervisors asked to approve responses to the 2009-10 findings and recommendations of the Civil Grand Jury that relate to County government matters under control of the Board.  (Item 9) APPROVED

 

Action would transfer $2.25 million in 2004-05 unclaimed property tax overpayments for use in the County’s general fund.  (Item11) APPROVED

 

Acceptance of $220,606 grant would allow County to join eight-state flu-monitoring project begun during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.   (Item 18) APPROVED

 

Board asked to adopt environmental impact report and mitigation monitoring plan for proposal to lower railroad tracks within a below-grade trench and eliminate four at-grade crossings as part of Alameda Corridor project in Alhambra, Rosemead, San Gabriel and East San Gabriel.  (Item 21) REFERRED BACK TO PUBLIC WORKS

 

Proposal calls for establishing a $7.8 million budget for urgent care expansion project at Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center in Los Angeles.  (Item 22) APPROVED

 

$24,400 donation would allow Probation Department to remodel a room and provide furniture and books for the library at the Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.  (Item 27) APPROVED

 

Board considers corrective action plan in employment discrimination case. (Item 30) APPROVED WITH AMENDMENT BY MOLINA TO STUDY FEASIBILITY OF CREATING AN OVERSIGHT PANEL OF INDEPENDENT EMPLOYMENT LAW EXPERTS TO REVIEW AND MONITOR DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT INVESTIGATIONS AND MAKE SYSTEMIC RECOMMENDATIONS 

 

Recommendation calls for asking governor to initiate legal action to reinstate penalties for persons falsely claiming to be a recipient of military decorations or medals.  (Item 33-A) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Don Knabe asks that County’s Beach Tech 2000 sanitizer unit be released to British Petroleum to help with the Gulf Coast cleanup efforts, with condition that a new unit be provided at no or little cost when a new unit becomes available in October.  (Item 33-B) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich requests plan in 60 days on modernizing County’s voting system. (Item 33-C)  APPROVED
