Air Quality Alert 7-9-08.

AIR QUALITY ALERT:

Air quality is unhealthy for sensitive individuals in the West and East San Fernando Valley, East San Gabriel Valley, Pomona/Walnut Valley, and San Gabriel Mountains.

 

Air Quality is unhealthy for all individuals in the Santa Clarita Valley.

 

LOS ANGELES – According to the South Coast Air Quality Management District, today’s air quality is unhealthy for sensitive individuals in the West and East San Fernando Valley, Pomona/Walnut Valley, East San Gabriel Valley, and San Gabriel Mountains. Today’s air quality is unhealthy for all individuals in the Santa Clarita Valley.

 

Los Angeles County Health Officer and Public Health Director, Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, MPH, advises people living or working in the West and East San Fernando Valley, Pomona/Walnut Valley, East San Gabriel Valley, and San Gabriel Mountains with heart disease, asthma or other respiratory disease to minimize outdoor activities. Schools or summer camps that are in session today that have children with sensitive conditions, including heart disease, asthma, other chronic respiratory diseases, should not participate in PE or outdoor physical activity and should stay indoors as much as possible.

 

All residents in the Santa Clarita Valley are advised to limit vigorous, outdoor exercise to no longer than one hour. People with heart disease, asthma, or other respiratory diseases should avoid outdoor activities entirely. Schools or summer camps in this area that are in session today should discontinue PE or outdoor physical activity for everyone until the air quality improves.
