ANTONOVICH CALLS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY

IN MLK EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINARY LAPSES

In Executive Session, the Board Will Determine Where Breakdowns

Occurred and Hold Responsible Those Who Ignored Board Directives

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich’s motion to hold responsible the individuals who ignored Board motions and County personnel policies by allowing the hiring or transfer of hospital staff without necessary background checks, competency testing, health screening, and licensure verifications.  The Board will meet in closed session on July 22, 2008.

All potential County applicants are required to disclose any criminal convictions on their job application to determine their eligibility for employment.  “It is unconscionable that a convicted felon would be hired at MLK,” said Antonovich.  “Those Health Department managers who have willfully ignored the directives of the Board of Supervisors will be identified and held accountable.”
