Proposal calls for loaning $3.9 million to developer to construct 105th Street and Normandie Senior Housing Project and the Downtown Women’s Center Project in Los Angeles, using housing redevelopment funds from City of Industry.  (Item 2-H) HOUSING AUTHORITY CONT. TO 7/15

 

Supervisor Gloria Molina recommends extension of $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for shooting death of Arturo Saldana, 52, and  Francisco Cereceres, 50,  at Jesse’s Auto in East Los Angeles on March 31.  (Item 6) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke proposes campaign to get County employees to donate cell phones for recycling to raise money for soldiers serving overseas to talk to their family and friends.  (Item 7) APPROVED

 

Board asked to approve distribution of $10,000 reward to persons who provided information that led to the conviction of four juveniles who assaulted a Rowland Unified School District police officer on Aug. 15, 2006 while he was investigating a school burglary.  (Item 11) APPROVED

 

Approval sought for distribution of $10,000 reward to persons who provided information that led to the conviction of Tonya Shafer in death of a newborn baby whose body was found March 11, 2006 along railroad tracks in Alhambra. (Item 12) APPROVED

 

Recommendation calls for appointment of William K. Huang as acting executive director of the Community Development Commission and Housing Authority, effective July 7, at $160,000 salary.  (Item 18)   APPROVED

 

$1.65 million would be awarded to five contractors to construct trails, walkways and bikeways to promote exercise.  (Item 26) APPROVED

 

Supervisors asked to approve $1.6 million to upgrade three freight elevators at the Museum of Natural History to meet operating and safety standards.  (Item 29) APPROVED

 

Grant funds totaling $14.89 million sought for Santa Fe Dam campground planning,  Schabarum Blueline Stream restoration, Skyline Trail/Rio Hondo staging area development, Whittier Narrows equestrian facility and bicycle/pedestrian path development, and Whittier Narrows riparian/scrub raptor field restoration.   (Item 30) APPROVED

 

Sheriff asks approval to provide law enforcement services to Foothill Transit at estimated cost of $400,000, and increase of two deputy sheriff positions.  (Item 53) CONT. BY MOLINA TO 8/5

 

Recommendation calls for paying estimated $419,000 to hire independent contractors to investigate Sheriff’s Department employees suspected of workers’ compensation fraud.  (Item 55) APPROVED

 

Board asked to declare results of June 3 Primary Election official.  (Item 57) APPROVED

 

$225,000 settlement proposed in lawsuit alleging abuse of a minor under the supervision of the Department of Children and Family Services.  (Item 61) SETTLEMENT APPROVED; CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN CONT. TO 7/29

 

$420,000 proposal would settle lawsuit filed by Department of Public Health employee who alleged she was subjected to disability discrimination.  (Item 62) PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT CONT. TO 7/8

 

Supervisors asked to approve priorities for future funding of child care and preschool programs.  (Item 63) APPROVED

 

Report to be given on actions the County needs to take due to statewide drought condition.   (Item 69) APPROVED KNABE MOTION ADOPTING RECOMMENDATIONS CONTAINED IN REPORT, STUDY EXPANDED USE OF RECYCLED WATER AT COUNTY FACILITIES, AND PREPARE REPORT ON EFFECT DROUGHT MAY HAVE ON PENDING DEVELOPMENTS IN UNINCORPORATED AREA

 

Proposal would increase Marina del Rey boat slip rental rates at County-operated Anchorage 47 by 10-25% over three years, depending on size, and ceiling for live-aboard charges 20% annually until 2011.  (Item 70, cont. from 6/24) APPROVED KNABE MOTION TO ADOPT RECOMMENDATIONS, PREPARE PLANS FOR REPLACEMENT OF EXISTING DOCKS, AND USE RENTAL INCOME ONLY FOR ANCHORAGE 47 DOCKS AND PREMISES

 

Report scheduled on unfilled budgeted vacancies that Department of Health Services receives funding.  (71-A)  CONT. TO BUDGET DISCUSSIONS IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER.
