Antelope Valley Area Plan -- four public meetings

NEWS  RELEASE    Contact:  Mitch Glaser, Department of Regional Planning, (213) 974-6476                                                                             July 29, 2008   County Rounds Out Town & Country Summer Meetings   The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning continues with Town & Country, an effort to update the Antelope Valley Area Plan, by hosting the last series of public meetings for this year.  The Area Plan, last updated in 1986, governs land use in the unincorporated areas of the Valley and must be revised to reflect current conditions and to guide the growth and change that will occur over the next 20 years.   In July, Town & Country participants worked on developing draft goals and policy recommendations during the "Goals" meetings.  This August, participants at four "Implementation" meetings will create action plans to put the goals and policy recommendations in motion.  These meetings will round out the three series hosted this summer which began with “Vision,” proceeded with “Goals,” and finally concludes with “Implementation.”   “Implementation” meetings will be held at four different locations throughout the Valley in order to provide residents with a venue close to their town.  Participation is welcome at any or all of the meetings.   Dates and locations for the “Implementation” meeting series are as follows:   Wednesday, August 6, 2008 7:00 – 9:00pm Lake Hughes Community Center 17520 Elizabeth Lake Road Lake Hughes, CA  93532   Wednesday, August 13, 2008 7:00 – 9:00pm Acton Community Center 3742 Nickels Street Acton, CA  93510   Tuesday, August 19, 2008 7:00 – 9:00pm Jackie Robinson Park Classroom 8773 East Avenue R Sun Village, CA  93543   Tuesday, August 26, 2008 6:30 – 8:30pm George Lane Park Auditorium 5520 West Avenue L-8 Quartz Hill, CA  93536   For more information on Town & Country, call (213) 974-6476 or e-mail tnc@planning.lacounty.gov.   The project also has a website at http://planning.lacounty.gov/tnc.   ###   Note to media: The Department of Planning is closed on Fridays.
