Approval sought to submit $20 million loan and grant applications to finance construction of 33,000-square-foot health center in Willowbrook.  (Item 2-D, 18) APPROVED

 

Board asked to approve revisions to the Section 8 rental assistance program to strengthen regulatory compliance and increase administrative effectiveness and efficiency.  (Item 1-H) YAROSLAVSKY CONT. TO 10/27

 

Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich and Don Knabe ask for timeline to implement recommendations from independent review to improve the Juvenile Court School program run by the County Office of Education.  (Item 2, cont. from 9/22, 10/6) APPROVED

 

Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky requests reestablishment of $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the murders of Robert and Barbara Callender, whose bodies and car were found in Malibu Canyon in 2007.  (Item 6) APPROVED

 

Recommendation would expand program geared towards the proper disposal of medical needles/lancets/syringes to include additional County facilities as collection sites. (Item 10) APPROVED

 

Approval sought for the 50th Annual Los Angeles County holiday celebration program, to be held on Dec. 24th at the Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, at cost of $449,000.  (Item 12, cont. from 10/6) MOLINA CONT. TO 10/20

 

Board approval sought for the acceptance of the following grants:

 

  • $15.4 million for implementation of County energy efficiency/conservation program. (Item 15)  APPROVED
  • $10.7 million for programs that enhance the healthcare community’s ability to respond to natural/man-made disasters, upping total to $14.3 million.   (Item 16) APPROVED
  • $305,000 for project in the Antelope Valley to collect data regarding cases of chickenpox, shingles and other viral diseases, and to monitor the administration of vaccine usage by age group.  (Item 17) APPROVED

 

Report scheduled on proposals made by a state commission to help reduce the state’s dependence on income tax revenue, and potential impact on the County’s revenue.  (Item 32, cont. from 9/29) RECEIVED AND FILED

 

Supervisors meet in closed session to consider lawsuit arising from allegations of harassment brought by an employee of the Department of Health Services. (Item CS-1) COUNTY COUNSEL CONT. TO 10/20

 

Supervisors meet in closed session to consider lawsuit by Malibu Canyon challenging County’s determination that its tentative subdivision map had expired under state law.  (Item CS-1 from noon special meeting)
