SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT PUTS VEHICLES TO THE TEST IN PURSUIT OF NEW PATROL CARS

 

 

WHO:               PERSONNEL FROM THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT’S COMMUNICATIONS AND FLEET MANAGEMENT BUREAU; MEMBERS OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT’S EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATIONS CENTER; MEMBERS OF THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT’S MOTOR TRANSPORTATION DIVISION AND POLICE PROGRAM MANAGERS FROM FORD, CHEVROLET AND CHRYSLER.

 

WHAT:             THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IS HOSTING ITS 35TH ANNUAL POLICE VEHICLE TESTING EVENT.  THE SHERIFF’S AND LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENTS’ DRIVER’S TRAINING INSTRUCTORS WILL PUT THE FORD CROWN VICTORIA, CHEVROLET IMPALA AND TAHOE, AND DODGE CHARGER, AS WELL AS THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON AND BMW MOTORCYCLES, THROUGH A SERIES OF TESTS.  THESE WILL INCLUDE A SIMULATED CITY STREET PURSUIT COURSE; A MILE-LONG, HIGH-SPEED ROAD COURSE; AND STOPPING DISTANCE AND ACCELERATION TESTS. 

THE RESULTS WILL BE PUBLISHED AND DISTRIBUTED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES NATIONWIDE.  AS PART OF THE VENDOR FAIR, THE “E7" PURPOSE-BUILT POLICE VEHICLE FROM CARBON MOTORS AND THE RECENTLY ANNOUNCED CHEVROLET CAPRICE POLICE VEHICLE WILL BE ON DISPLAY.  MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.
