Clarification

Clarification of Board of Supervisors action this week to investigate why some businesses in unincorporated areas have been asked to pay license and police alarm permit fees by the City of Los Angeles:

The Board motion indicated that the County Auditor's Office contacted the City Controller's Office about this problem, but had been unsuccessful in getting the issue corrected.   In fact, the  Auditor contacted the city's Office of Finance, which collects  business taxes.  The erroneous information was included in several media stories.
