Voters may cast ballots for November 3, 2009 Consolidated Elections over the Weekend

Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean Logan reported that In-Person Early Voting hours at the RR/CC Headquarters in Norwalk have been extended the following two weekends leading up to the November 3, 2009 Consolidated Elections.  “Our office is dedicated to providing LA County voters every opportunity possible to cast a ballot.  With the busy schedules many of us keep, an opportunity to vote on the weekend is a service much appreciated by many,” said Logan.

To vote early, voters can visit the 3rd floor of the RR/CC Headquarters located at 12400 Imperial Hwy., Norwalk, CA, through November 2.  In-person Early Voting will be available Monday thru Friday during regular office hours from 8 am to 5 pm or during extended hours the weekends of October 24-25 and October 31-November 1 from 8 am to 4 pm.

Logan also reported that on October 5, the RR/CC began processing Vote by Mail ballot requests from voters wishing to cast a ballot by mail for the November 3 elections.  “To date, over 372,000 voters have requested Vote by Mail ballots, and more than 59,000 have returned their voted ballot by mail or in-person to the RR/CC”, stated Logan.  “Time still remains for voters to request a Vote by Mail ballot.  Tuesday, October 27 is the deadline for voters to get their requests to the RR/CC.”

Voters may request a Vote by Mail ballot in one of the following ways:

    • Complete the Vote by Mail application on the back cover of the Official Sample Ballot booklet; or
    • Submit an electronic request by visiting the RR/CC website at and click on Apply for Vote by Mail Ballot located in the Online Services box of the main page; or
    • Send a letter addressed to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, Vote by Mail Section, P.O. Box 30450, Los Angeles, CA 90030-0450; or
    • Apply in person at the RR/CC Headquarters, 12400 Imperial Hwy., 3rd Floor, Room 3002, Norwalk, CA 90650.

Voters who request a Vote by Mail ballot can check the status of their request using the RR/CC’s online

look-up. Visit and click on the Mail Ballot Status button in the Quick Links box located on

the main page.  Voters may also call the RR/CC at (562) 466-1323.

In order to be counted, ballots cast by mail must be returned with sufficient time for mail delivery to the

RR/CC by 8 pm on November 3 (postmarked ballots will not be counted).  Vote by Mail ballots may also

be returned in person to the RR/CC Headquarters, or delivered to any polling place in Los Angeles

County before the polls close at 8 pm on Election Day. A voter may authorize a designated family

member to return the voted ballot to a polling place or to the RR/CC in accordance with the procedures

outlined on the Vote by Mail ballot return envelope.
