Supervisors Don Knabe and Michael D. Antonovich ask plan be developed by Oct. 27 to spend $7.9 million to deter fraud in the In-Home Supportive Services program if $1.5 million can be identified to qualify for the state/federal funding. (Item 2)
Action would instruct all County departments, agencies and commissions to exercise their emergency preparedness plans during “The Great California Shake Out” on Oct. 15. (Item 5)
Board asks for timeline to implement recommendations from independent review to improve the Juvenile Court School program run by the County Office of Education. (Item 7, cont. from 9/22)
Supervisor Gloria Molina requests expedited claims process be developed to resolve any outstanding payments owed to security guards who worked at County facilities for company that went bankrupt. (Item 9, cont. from 9/22, 9/29)
Approval sought for the 50th Annual Los Angeles County holiday celebration program, to be held on Dec. 24 at the Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, at cost of $449,000. (Item 10)
Motion would reject plan to consolidate the Board of Governors of the County Arboreta and Botanical Gardens with the Parks and Recreation Commission. (Item 11)
Proposal would deny plans to build wireless telecommunications facility on commercial building on Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta. (Item 13)
Action would allow County to spend $3.87 million in unclaimed property tax overpayments from 2000-04. (Item 15)
Proposal would designate qualified private and public hospitals as “approved stroke centers,” allowing paramedics to transport stroke victims to these facilities instead of the nearest hospital. (Item 16)
$200,000 settlement, plus waiver of $47,765 in medical bills, proposed in lawsuit alleging Probation Department employee Theresa Beck was subjected to disability discrimination and was not reasonably accommodated. (Item 31)
$90,000 settlement, plus waiver of $374,586 in medical bills, proposed in lawsuit filed by Craig Ginsburg arising from slip and fall incident at the Acton Rehabilitation Center. (Item 32)
$150,000 settlement recommended in lawsuit alleging deprivation of educational/mental health services and use of inappropriate physical restraint by the Department of Children and Family Services. (Item 33)
Board asked to approve $220,000 settlement in lawsuit filed by Rafael Martinez for injuries received in automobile accident involving Sheriff’s Department employee. (Item 34)
$140,000 settlement proposed in lawsuit by Willie Woods, who accused the Department of Children and Family Services of racial discrimination, retaliation and failure to investigate. (Item 35)
Report recommends against transferring any current Department of Public Health programs to other departments. (Item 38, cont. from 9/22)
