L.A. County medical pot dispensaries facing prosecution?

L.A. County District Attorney and L.A. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich said today that any medical marijuana dispensary operating outside of the guidelines of Prop 215 would be prosecuted.  At issue are over-the-counter sales, the basis on which many - if not most - dispensaries operate.  What's next in this on-going conflict between dispensaries and the law.

Not on my child! Doubts rise over H1N1 vaccine

Last week research  by Consumer Reports found that nearly 2/3 of parents say they will hold off on giving the H1N1 swine flu vaccine to their children; this week, an AP survey found that close to 40% of parents had serious reservations about giving their kids the vaccine.  Meanwhile government health officials, and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius herself, said the vaccine is perfectly safe and strongly encouraged everyone to get it.  Are the concerns by parents and others legitimate or overblown?

Returning to the Hundred Acre Wood

On Monday Dutton Children’s Books will release the first authorized sequel to A.A. Milne’s classic “Winnie the Pooh” and many are wondering why in the world they would do such a thing. Sequels of classics are rarely ever anything to write home about and often seem cheap compared to the original. Will “Return to the Hundred Acre Wood” by David Benedictus be as magical as Milne’s masterpiece or will it simply sully the willy nilly silly old bear?
