WHAT: Acting U.S. Surgeon General Rear Adm. Steven K. Galson will
present the "Healthy Youth for a Healthy Future Champion Award" to the
California Department of Public Health's Network for a Healthy
California.

WHY: In California, more than one in ten children are overweight for
their age, more than 1 in 4 teens and nearly 60 percent of adults are
overweight or obese. The Healthy Youth for a Healthy Future Award
recognizes and showcases communities and programs across the nation that
address childhood overweight and obesity prevention by helping kids stay
active, encouraging healthy eating habits and promotion healthy choices.
