Hundreds of Los Angeles County Parks Cheerleaders
to Compete at Annual Cheer-Off
WHAT: Annual Cheer-Off Competition. The Belvedere Park Lakeside will be filled with high energy along with choreographed jumps, tumbling, pyramids, stunts, cheers and dance.
WHO: More than 50 cheerleading teams from 16 different parks from East Los Angeles, the Florence-Firestone area, the San Gabriel Valley and South Whittier, will gather to compete in four different divisions with ages ranging from 3 to 17. The teams have been practicing since the summer and the event will be the culmination of the cheerleading season.
The Department of Parks and Recreation has been offering affordable cheerleading classes for more than 12 years with an emphasis on teaching the sport in a safe, fun and productive environment. Cheerleading promotes self esteem and confidence in children along with teaching them to be team players and to set goals.
WHEN: Saturday, January 24, 2009.
Competition begins at 10:00 a.m.
Awards presented at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Directions from Downtown Los Angeles: Take the San Bernardino Freeway East (10 E). Continue on the Pomona Freeway East (60 E). Exit on Atlantic Boulevard and turn right. Slight right at Pomona Boulevard and continue on 3rd Street. Destination will be on the right.
