Forget about the first 100 Days—the Obama Administration is likely to be judged on every 100 minutes it spends in office, and those first judgments come today [Weds] as President Obama tackles the a laundry list of policy priorities.  Some highly anticipated executive orders could come today, from closing down the Guantanamo Bay prison to granting California’s exemption on strict air quality standards.  As the new Obama Administration gets down to business we’re there for the opening minutes of what is sure to be a marathon effort.

Will Obama Power up the Arts?

Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma played at the inauguration – a hopeful sign for the arts and culture in the Obama White House.  Producer Quincy Jones has been promoting the idea of a cabinet-level post, maybe even a secretary of culture, for nearly ten years. And now with a new administration, will we see a higher visibility of the arts, coordination of arts education, cultural diplomacy and support for arts organizations?
