A Green Screen in Every Home?

State regulators are drafting the nation's first rules requiring retailers sell only the most efficient models of energy-guzzling LCD and plasma TV sets by 2011 in an effort to relieve strain on California's power grid. The consumer electronics industry opposes the new rules, arguing they will raise prices and lead to job and revenue losses. Is the potential conserved energy worth the possible loss of jobs and revenue?

In a move guaranteed to shake up the Republican National Committee hierarchy, members have called their own meeting to vet candidates for chair.  It's the first time they've done so without going through the party's leadership, and it sets a contentious tone for a GOP that lost the presidency and must deal with a majority Democratic Congress. Can a GOP in revolt get back popularity and political majority?
