9:45 a.m. CIVIC CENTER - The 39th annual Blue Ribbon Children's Festival, which features free performances by national touring artists, will conclude its three-day run at the Music Center. The event brings 18,000 fifth-graders from throughout Los  Angeles County to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
This year's featured artist is the dance company Ailey II. The troupe's performances at 9:45 and 11:15 a.m. will conclude with a choreographed dance by 3,000 students on the Music Center Plaza. At 7:30 p.m., the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will continue its six-performance engagement at the

12:30 p.m. CERRITOS - About 100 third-graders from Frank Leal Elementary School will mark the vernal equinox at ``Water Henge: H20 = Life,'' a Stonehenge-like group of five mosaic sculptures that tell the story of how the Los Angeles Basin was once affected by large amounts of water. The five sculptures operate as a sundial. The sculpture's creator, Kim Emerson, will speak to the students about the equinox.
