MOLINA STATEMENT RE OFFICIALS TAKE DOWN INTERNATIONAL HEROIN DISTRIBUTION ORGANIZATION

The following is Supervisor Gloria Molina's statement in response to announcement today on arrests of suspects in international heroin distribution ring:

 

"I commend this tenacious law enforcement team made up of the Sheriff Department's Narcotics Bureau; and the U.S. Attorney's Office, Drug Enforcement Administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their courageous work in stopping an international operation from distributing heroin in our local communities," said Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina.

LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS TAKE DOWN INTERNATIONAL

HEROIN DISTRIBUTION ORGANIZATION

 

 

WHO:              SHERIFF LEE BACA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT; THOMAS O’BRIEN, UNITED STATES ATTORNEY; SPECIAL AGENT IN CHARGE TIMOTHY LANDRUM, DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION; AND SPECIAL AGENT IN CHARGE ROBERT SCHOCH, IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT.

 

WHAT:            SHERIFF BACA WILL ANNOUNCE THE RESULTS OF AN INVESTIGATION INTO AN INTERNATIONAL HEROIN DISTRIBUTION ORGANIZATION WORKING HERE IN LOS ANGELES.  ARREST AND SEARCH WARRANTS FOR THIRTY-EIGHT LOCATIONS WERE EXECUTED THIS MORNING FOR A BUSINESS THAT DISTRIBUTES FIFTEEN KILOGRAMS OF HEROIN PER WEEK, YIELDING AN ESTIMATED $2,000,000.00 IN PROFITS PER MONTH.
