Charter Oak High School football team recognized for winning the CIF-Southern Section Southeast Division title.

 

Three County executives honored upon their retirements: County Counsel Ray Fortner, Assistant Assessor Bonnie Oliver, and Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector Henry Roman.

$848,572 website proposal would expand affordable housing listing services; offer assistance in the purchase, rehabilitation and sale of foreclosed and abandoned properties; and provide referral assistance to residents and businesses affected by the foreclosure crisis. Board asked to approve additional $3 million loan for construction of affordable housing development in East Los Angeles, upping funding total to $10.5 million.  (Item 2-D) APPROVED

 

Supervisors asked to approve Housing Authority’s Annual Plan for FY 2009-10 and Five-Year Action Plan.  (Item 1-H) APPROVED, 5-0

 

 

Recommendation calls for increasing fee from $2 to $3 to record real estate documents, with funds to be used to prosecute real estate fraud.  (Item 3) APPROVED, 5-0

 

Proposal would establish a preferential parking district in Azusa and impose $50 household permit fee to alleviate increased street parking in neighborhood adjacent to Azusa Pacific University.   (Item 4) APPROVED, 5-0

 

Board considers appeal of Regional Planning Commission’s approval of:

  1. Proposal to construct/operate/maintain a horse riding academy/equestrian facility associated with therapeutic programs for disabled children in Santa Clarita Valley.

Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas proposes establishing $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the murder of Jesse Cazarez on Feb. 1 in Compton.  (Item 10) APPROVED

 

Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky and Don Knabe request that issues of prejudice/violence against the homeless be integrated into County’s youth education projects to promote greater understanding of how people become homeless, and that multi-agency hate crime database be created to track crimes against the homeless.  (Item 11) APPROVED, 5-0

 

Board support requested for SB 23, which would require operators of mobile home parks and manufactured home communities to implement an emergency and fire safety plan.   (Item 12) APPROVED

 

Supervisors ask strategy be developed to ensure preservation of natural habitat of the Santa Monica Mountains as part of the North Area Plan Community Standards District.   (Item 13) APPROVED

 

Extension of $10,000 reward proposed for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the double murder of Sarith Em and Vannaly Tim on Jan. 1 in Long Beach.  (Item 14) APPROVED

 

Board asks for recommendations to integrate County service programs for senior citizens to promote efficiency and eliminate duplication of services.  (Item 18) APPROVED

 

Supervisors asked to approve plans for 75-unit senior citizen development in Quartz Hill in Antelope Valley.  (Item 24) APPROVED

 

Permission sought to extend completion date of new 585-unit apartment complex and 225-slip marina in Marina del Rey from June 30, 2009 to June 30, 2013.   (Item 26) APPROVED, 5-0

 

Status report scheduled on automating file-keeping system for inventory in Sheriff’s Central Property and Evidence Unit, including number of untested sexual assault kits. (Item 33) SHERIFF CONT. TO 3/31

 

Supervisors Gloria Molina and Michael D. Antonovich request review of current policies and procedures regarding charging fees for juveniles in probation facilities. (Item 34-B) APPROVED, 5-0, WITH PROBATION DEPARTMENT TO CLARIFY THE MORATORIUM PROCESS AT 3/31 MEETING
