LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

 

MARINA DEL REY, CALIF. – July 1, 2010 – The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, marinadelrey.lacounty.gov or beaches.lacounty.gov, which will go live on July 1, 2010.  The new website design organizes a vast amount of department-related information and services into a streamlined, user-friendly format consistent with Los Angeles County’s website style guide, featuring bright, distinguishing images of the department’s activities and attractions.

On the new homepage is a rotating photo gallery of images highlighting departmental announcements and items of interest.  Just below the gallery is a current “News and Press Releases” section that includes an extensive list of relevant news and announcements. For commission meetings and special events, there is a new event calendar that allows users to view and create a reminders and notifications account to receive date and time specific reminders via email.

In an effort to make the website as user-friendly as possible, the redesign incorporates multiple methods for site visitors to navigate and access information.  Users can navigate by major categories, such as “Beaches”, “Marina del Rey”, “Youth Programs”, “Government”, “Payments”, and “Reservations”, or research a particular topic using the search engine, or search the Document Repository for published material using the Beaches Documents search feature.  Another section is the “Tell Me About” navigation area, with pull-down menus on, for instance, “Activities and Programs”, “Things to Do”, “Boating”, “Exploring Marina del Rey”, “Visiting the Beaches”, and “Doing Business with Us”.
