Saturday event: Roosevelt Park Receives $5,000 for Youth Soccer

FOLLOWING THE CLOSING OF WORLD CUP -- SOCCER ICON MANUEL NEGRETE

JOINS MORE THAN 500 Youth IN ACCEPTING DONATION FOR PARK WITH MORE

THAN 25 YOUTH SOCCER TEAMS IN SOUTHEAST L.A.

 

 

WHAT:              More than 500 youths from 25 soccer teams in Southeast Los Angeles will learn Mexican soccer icon

                    Manuel Negrete’s legendary moves at a soccer clinic and tournament.

 

                    The event will bring families out for a day of health, fitness and fun.  Citibank, who is sponsoring the

                    clinic, will present a $5,000 check to the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation for

                    the Roosevelt Park Youth Soccer League.  Roosevelt Park has one of the largest soccer leagues in

                    L.A. County with more than 25 teams.

 

WHEN:             Saturday, July 17 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“The sport of soccer among our youth in Southeast Los Angeles continues to grow, and we are very proud that our youth soccer program at Roosevelt Park has been selected for a special donation – an especially timely occasion, following the closing of the 2010 World Cup,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina.
