National Adoption Day Celebration Marks Permanence for 130 Children
Some 86 families will conclude their legal adoption proceedings on National Adoption Day, Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Courthouse in Monterey Park.
WHO: Juvenile Court Presiding Judge Michael Nash and other judicial
officers will preside over afternoon adoptions for 130 Los Angeles County foster children who will permanently join a loving family.
Speakers will be Judge Nash; actress Nia Vardalos, 2010 National Adoption Day Coalition spokesperson; Patricia S. Ploehn, director, Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services; Janis Spire, CEO, The Alliance for Children’s Rights; Karen Ullman, supervising staff attorney, Public Counsel Law Center; and actor Willie Garson.
WHAT: Completing adoptions of 130 Los Angeles County foster children.
WHEN: 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010.
