ANTONOVICH COMMENTS ON THE PASSING OF ALYCE BLOCK

LOS ANGELES COUNTY –  “Alyce was a friend and devoted wife, mother and  grandmother who supported her husband’s career for many years,” said Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich on the passing of Alyce Block, widow of Sheriff Sherman Block who passed away last night at West Hills Hospital.  “They were originally from Chicago and moved to Culver City where Sherm started out working at a deli counter.  He joined the Sheriff’s Department and they moved to West Hills.  She was trained as a radiology nurse but never practiced in order to care for her family as a stay-at-home wife and mother.  Their daughter is a Captain in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and their son is a surgical nurse at Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Christine and I send our prayers and condolences to her family and many friends.”
