SHERIFF TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL GRANT TO IMPLEMENT AUTOMATED LICENSE PLATE RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY

 

 

LOS ANGELES COUNTY – The Board of Supervisors approved a $200,000 grant from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services for the 2009 COPS Technology Program to implement the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) System, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

 

The primary purpose of this program is to improve public safety by enabling Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies to make more effective use of ALPR technology to investigate crimes, improve homeland security, and locate wanted persons and stolen vehicles.
