MOLINA FIFTH ANNIVERSARY ARTIST SHOWCASE FEATURES YOUTH ART

 

            LOS ANGELES  (December 16, 2008) – On the 5th Anniversary of featuring and promoting local artists, Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina’s Annual Artist Showcase features the works of youth artists from East L.A.’s Casa Cultura, a neighborhood art center.  During this season of giving, the event also features a silent auction to benefit Casa Cultura's mission of nurturing young artists. 

 

WHAT:          Supervisor Gloria Molina’s 5th Anniversary Artist Showcase Featuring Exhibit and Silent Auction of the Work of Casa Cultura’s Youth Artists

 

WHEN:         Thursday, December 17, 2009 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Founded in 2004, Casa Cultura is a neighborhood art center promoting art and culture, and nurturing young artists from the Saybrook Park and East Los Angeles community and beyond.  Founder Guadalupe Bojorquez and daughter Beatrice Bojorquez who manage the art center, offer programming tailored to each student based on age and experience – students learn about diverse cultures through arts and music programs, and acquire skills in layout and design, sketching and drawing, and painting in watercolor and acrylic.  Throughout the year, professional artists visit with students and share their artistic knowledge and techniques. Also, students visit museums, art galleries, and art festivals; and participate in art contests.  Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Casa Cultura.       -end-
