SHERIFF BACA AND LAPD CHIEF BECK LAUNCH “CRIME STOPPERS”
WHO: SHERIFF LEE BACA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT; CHIEF CHARLIE BECK, LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT; SUPERVISOR MICHAEL ANTONOVICH AND SUPERVISOR ZEV YAROSLAVSKY, LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS; EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MARK SPEER, CRIME STOPPERS; DIRECTOR FLORENCE CHUNG, TARGET CORPORATION; AND LUISA ASHLEY, PARENTS OF MURDERED CHILDREN.
WHAT: SHERIFF BACA AND CHIEF BECK WILL ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCHING OF A MULTI-AGENCY PROGRAM CALLED “CRIME STOPPERS.” THIS NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION WILL HELP PROVIDE INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF KNOWN CRIMINALS WITHIN LOS ANGELES COUNTY BY SOLICITING CRIME TIPS FROM THE PUBLIC. TIPS CAN BE REPORTED VIA TELEPHONE, TEXT MESSAGING OR E-MAIL. THE INFORMATION WILL THEN BE FORWARDED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES THROUGHOUT LOS ANGELES COUNTY.
